1. Audiological Evaluation This consists of a number of tasks (pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry and impedance testing) performed in a sound-proof room, designed to determine which sounds of speech you can hear and how well you can distinguish differences between similar words such as tips, pits, fits, thin. Impedance measures the integrity of the middle ear system to determine how well the eardrum functions, to check if there is fluid behind the eardrum or to determine if there might be other middle ear conditions that warrant a visit to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. 2. Hearing Aid Dispensing Hearing aid evaluations include the selection of appropriate technology specific to your hearing needs based on your hearing test, your lifestyle, your manual dexterity, visual acuity, financial ability and cosmetic preferences. All hearing aid fittings are subjected to FDA evaluation and under California Song Beverley Consumer Protection law come with a 30-day evaluation / satisfaction period. We assist you in billing insurance plans that cover hearing aids. We gladly accept Health Net, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, United Health Care, Secure Horizons, Pacific Care, Trust Funds.... We are contracted with Brown and Toland, Hill Physicians and Chinese Community Health Plan. 3. HINT (Hearing in Noise Test) The HINT measures a person's ability to understand speech in real world conditions. Conventional hearing tests, which measure hearing thresholds and word understanding separately for each ear in a quiet environment help to provide a basic idea of a person's hearing. HINT measures a person's ability to understand speech in quiet and noisy environments using both ears.
