Sarah considers herself still a "cave girl," because that was one of her high school mascots (the Cavemen and Cave girls) while growing up in Carlsbad, New Mexico home of the illustrious Carlsbad Caverns. Sarah is also a Sun Devil, having graduated from Arizona State University with her Doctorate of Audiology in 2011. She studied psychology and speech therapy before being drawn to the field of audiology. "I was working with a family who had two autistic children," she explains. "The children were in speech therapy, which I found interesting, so I took classes in the speech and hearing sciences. From there, I knew audiology was for me." She continued, "Having a background also in psychology has helped me to better understand the emotional needs of my patients and their loved ones."
Sarah is a member of the American Academy of Audiology, the Academy of Doctors of Audiology, the American Auditory Society as well as other professional organizations. Once a year she travels to Guaymas, Mexico, as part of the "Help Me Hear" mission funded by the Mesa Baseline Rotary Club. She joins volunteers from other medical professions as they help those in need of medical care including hearing testing.
