Dr. Hixson, an Oklahoma City native, first moved to Arizona after high school to play softball at Arizona State. Once completing her bachelors of science in speech and hearing science, Dr. Hixson moved to Chicago to start the Speech-Language Pathology Masters program at Northwestern University. Her return to Arizona State in 2011 brought her student career to a close in the doctoral program for Audiology. Before her current stint as clinical audiologist for Arizona Ear & Hearing Centers, Dr. Hixson completed her residency under founder and president, Dr. Mark Syms.
So we asked Dr. Hixson, what about the hearing loss community and her contribution matters most? “Providing hearing treatment through the use of hearing devices and assistive listening devices is challenging in respect to awareness, counseling, and patient acceptance. Our patients come to our clinic at different stages in their hearing journey. There are those that are more than ready to improve their quality of life through better hearing and to get the ball rolling with hearing treatment to reduce their risk of cognitive decline. There are also those that haven’t yet grasped the adverse affects their hearing is having on themselves and their significant others. The broad spectrum of patients is astounding. Regardless of where they are in their hearing journey, having the opportunity to work with each individual patient and their specific circumstance and seeing improvement in all aspects of their lives is why I come to work everyday.”
About this clinic
You wouldn’t expect a sound home to be built without the use of a talented craftsman. The same goes for your hearing loss and treatment options. You should expect a plan that treats your hearing loss, and doesn’t sell a hearing aid. Rather than simply fitting a device, we provide comprehensive care from a board-certified otologist, neurologist, and audiologist.
Arizona Hearing Center is a cutting-edge hearing care facility providing comprehensive, family-focused care. We care for patients in a respectful, forthcoming and accessible manner and offer compassionate, individualized treatment. We educate future hearing healthcare professionals on innovative technologies and the treatment of complicated conditions.
We are the hearing loss experts.
High quality follow-up care is essential. Your treatment plan is inclusive of the following services for the lifetime of the devices: Hearing aid and assistive listening device education, selection, and training for you and your significant others. Diagnostic audiologic assessments to monitor hearing ability and ear health. Hearing aid service, repair, maintenance, and cleaning. And most importantly, a 75-day adjustment period if you are not 100 percent satisfied with the hearing healthcare and treatment you receive.
We proudly partner with Prosper Healthcare Lending – the premier financing company in the healthcare industry. With over $3 Billion borrowed and over 250,000 people empowered, this is a name and a program you can trust.
