The Mobile Regional Center of the Alabama Instutute for Deaf Blind covers Clarke, Washington, Monroe, Conechuh, Escambia, Baldwin and Mobile Counties.
For 155 years, the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) has served the people of Alalbama with hearing and vision loss. It all started when a young man wanted to create a school for his young deaf brother. It began in a small way but enrollment of two students grew to 22 by the end of the first year.
Today, AIDB is the most comprehensive education and service program for individuals with vision or hearing loss in the United States, serving thousands of individuals and families each year.
