Dr. Deborah Dempesy has nearly 30 years experience as a clinical audiologist. Her primary interests are aural rehabilitative audiology, especially hearing devices, assistive listening devices and technology that help the hearing impaired communicate and cope in our auditory world; tinnitus management (noises in the ears) and working with all populations from infants to the very elderly. She herself lost her hearing 15 years ago due to Meniere’s disease and wears hearing aids. She is personally aware of the limitations hearing loss can create when working and socializing and is committed to helping others achieve the best possible hearing ability they can through modern technology.
Dr. Dempesy obtained her doctorate in Audiology (AuD) from Salus University in Pennsylvania in 2007. Prior to that she received her Master’s of Audiology Degree at Northwestern University in Evanston IL in 1982.
She practiced initially as an audiologist in Chicago and for the last 27 years in Boston. Boston work experience includes: Director of Audiology at Beth Israel Deaconess hospital for 14 years, 6 years of consulting work performing hearing aid clinical research, serving on the Task Force for Infant Hearing Screening for the state of Massachusetts, assisting Boston hospitals setting up Infant Hearing screening programs, establishing her own private practice in audiology for 7 years on Boston’s North Shore. Dr. Dempesy worked with a major hearing aid manufacturer, and provided training and education to audiologists in private practice throughout the New England region.

Personally, Dr. Dempesy lives with her partner. Her daughter lives on Boston’s North Shore and has inherited her mother’s penchant for working hard in the field of marketing. In her free time Dr Dempesy loves the out of doors, sea kayaking, hiking, running, reading, watching movies and especially spending time with her extended family of parents, brother, sisters, nephews and nieces in Western Massachusetts.
