New Sound Processor Trade-In Program

At Advanced Bionics we are committed to serving you for life and look forward to many more advances in technology. Each advance is intended to improve hearing performance, enhance ease of use, and/or provide for new connectivity. We hope this update on our trade-in program enables you to take advantage of some of the New Sound Processors extended feature set.

Details on the Trade-In Program
As of January 13, 2006

  1. New HR90K Implant Patients

All patients who received a 2-processor system and had initial stimulation from January 3, 2006 through the availability of our New Sound Processor will be able to trade in one unopened Auria Sound Processor for a New Sound Processor free of charge when it is available. Opened Auria Sound Processors may be upgraded. We will begin processing trade-in requests approximately one month after the general shipment date of the New Sound Processor.

  2. HR90K or CII Implant Patients Trading in an Auria Sound Processor

HR90K or CII Patients (Advanced Bionics patients implanted after January 1, 2001) having initial stimulation before January 3, 2006 will be able to trade in an Auria Sound Processor (opened or un-opened) at a significant discount price for the New Sound Processor.

We will begin processing trade-in and replacement requests approximately one month after the general availability of the New Sound Processor. A financing plan will be available. As usual, our reimbursement consultants will offer advice and service on reimbursement matters.

  3. Paitients with Auria Sound Processors under the Pediatric Warranty Extension Plan Auria Sound Processors under the Pediatric Warranty Extension Plan will be replaced with New Sound Processors at no cost.

  4. CII or HR90K Patients Trading in Processors Other Than the Auria Sound Processor

We will begin processing trade-in and replacement requests approximately one month after the general availability of the New Sound Processor. A financing plan will be available. As usual, our reimbursement consultants will offer advice and service on reimbursement matters.

  5. Patients Who Hold Un-redeemed Auria Sound Processor Coupons or Flex Plan Certificates

Patients who still hold un-redeemed Auria Sound Processor coupons or Flex Plan certificates will be able to redeem their coupons or certificates for New Sound Processors.

AB recognizes that earlier C1 implant recipients are very eager to try the new processor, even if their implant is not compatible with the 120 channel strategy. The new sound processor is designed to be compatible with all AB implants in the future and the software needed to program the processor for other implants is currently under development at AB. We anticipate that trials for individuals with C1 implants will begin at the end of 2006.
