Advanced Bionics Tools for Schools Program Enormous Success

October 25, 2004, Valencia, CA - Advanced Bionics launched its Tools for Schools program last month to help children with its cochlear implants gain the most out of their school experience. The program serves to educate school personnel and parents about cochlear implants and the needs of children who use them.

We developed the Tools for Schools program because children using our cochlear implants are more often entering mainstream schools and the personnel at their schools typically have little functional understanding of cochlear implants, said Jenifer Goldin, M.S, CCC-A, Educational Services Coordinator for Advanced Bionics. By providing service and information to schools, educators are better equipped to help children with cochlear implants reach their highest potential.

The Tools for Schools program includes information on troubleshooting cochlear implants, setting expectations and communication goals, student educational videos, in-service presentations and more. The program was launched at the beginning of the 2004 school year and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Over 1000 educators, private therapists and cochlear implant professionals throughout North America are taking advantage of the Tools for Schools program.

Janet Zurovski, a California teacher said, I attended and presented at the Cochlear Implant conference in San Ramon in September and talked with your representative there. There were many attendees that were quite excited by your Tools for Schools kit. I was very impressed with it and found it appropriate and well put together for ease of use and understanding by school personnel. Thanks!

My child's second grade teacher was thrilled with the information she received from you. She stopped me in the hall today to say that she would be showing the class the video you had sent her. said Sylvia Goldbeck, parent of a child with a cochlear implant.

The Tools for Schools program is made available through Advanced Bionics Bionic Ear Association Education Division (BEA-E). The BEA-E is a service organization dedicated to supporting educators, parents and therapists to ensure that children gain the most from their educational setting.
