SOMERSET, NJ April 24 – Over 2,500 hearing care professionals rocked for a cause at Oticon’s “Rock NOW!” benefit during the 2012 AudiologyNOW! conference. The guests enjoyed a good time – including an hour-long concert by rock band “Third Eye Blind” -- and helped to raise a $25,000 donation from Oticon, Inc. to the American Academy of Audiology Foundation (AAAF). Oticon, Inc. pledged to donate $10 to AAAF for every conference participant who attended the March 29 celebration.
The $25,000 gift will fund five $5,000 academic Empowering People Scholarships for graduate education.
“We are pleased to again partner with the American Academy of Audiology Foundation to support educational programs for the students of today that will ensure skilled and caring hearing care professionals who share our commitment to putting the needs of people with hearing loss first,” said AAAF Chair Dick Danielson. “Oticon’s generous gift will help lighten the financial burden for deserving audiology students and help to ensure the vitality of the profession of audiology. We thank Oticon for its ongoing support of the American Academy of Audiology Foundation’s educational programs.”
The Empowering People Scholarships are offered to third year AuD students who show exceptional promise as clinical audiologists. Students who are interested in applying for funding from the AAAFoundation Scholarship Program can visit audiologyfoundation.org for more information.
Deadline for submission of applications for scholarships for the 2012-13 academic year is April 30.
