With Funding from Oticon, Inc., Sertoma International Awards $12,000 in Scholarships to Students with Hearing Loss

Somerset, NJ, July 11 A $12,000 grant from Oticon, Inc. has enabled Sertoma International to award $1,000 college scholarships to students with hearing loss. The twelve winning students with mild to profound hearing loss were selected from over 200 entries received from students across the country. This is the eighth year that Oticon has supported Sertomas scholarship programs for young people with hearing loss.

The 2007 scholarship winners are: Brent Daniel of Iva, SC; Matt Young of San Pedro, CA; Bridget Peffer of Buffalo, NY; Stephanie Duttweiler of Hampton, GA; Katherine Radasevich of Naperville, IL; Philip Mendonca of Stockton, CA; Stephanie Kumm of Prior Lake, MN; Julia Buhnerkempe of Effingham, IL; Harold Couch of Pueblo, CO; Tyler Marley of Beaverton, OR; Alison Ecker of Albany, OR and Stacie Coombs of Paradise, UT.

Students can use their scholarship awards for any school-related expenses including tuition, books and supplies during any academic term, including summer term.

Since 1994, Oticon has contributed to scholarship and other programs that benefit students with hearing loss through Sertoma International, stated Peer Lauritsen, president of Oticon, Inc. We believe that young people with hearing loss have the potential to make enormous contributions to the world. Through the scholarship program, we aim to help them acquire the education they need to achieve their goals.

Oticon is a long time supporter of the educational initiatives of Sertoma International, one of the oldest civic service clubs in the U.S. promoting civic responsibility through community service.
