Oticon Provides Grant for Graduate Audiology Scholarships

Oticon Hearing Foundation Grant Empowers Audiology Students with $27,500 Gift to AAAF

SOMERSET, NJ  May 2 –  Over 2,700 audiologists rocked for a cause at the “Empowering People Rock Gala” sponsored by Oticon, Inc. during this year’s AudiologyNOW! conference.  The good times enjoyed by all tallied up to a lasting benefit for deserving audiology students – a $27,500 donation by the Oticon Hearing Foundation to the American Academy of Audiology Foundation (AAAF).  Oticon Hearing Foundation pledged to donate $10 to AAAF for every conference participant who attended the April 7 celebration.  The resulting $27,500 gift is earmarked to fund academic Empowering People Scholarships for graduate education.

“The Oticon Hearing Foundation proud to partner with the American Academy of Audiology Foundation in empowering people who are the future of the profession,” said Oticon President Peer Lauritsen.  “By supporting the educational endeavors of students today, we will help to ensure skilled and caring hearing care professionals who share our commitment to empowering people with hearing loss to communicate freely, interact naturally and participate actively.”

The Empowering People Scholarships will be available to 3rd and 4th year AuD students who show exceptional promise as clinical audiologists.  “The cost of graduate education in audiology can be an enormous obstacle to many students who are dedicated to pursuing a career in hearing science,” stated AAAF Board Chair Dianne Meyer, PhD. “Oticon’s generous gift will help lighten the financial burden for deserving students, and will help ensure the vitality of the profession of audiology.  We thank the Oticon Hearing Foundation for its ongoing support of our philanthropic efforts.”

Oticon Hearing Foundation is funded by a grant from Oticon, Inc.  American Academy of Audiology Foundation raises funds and supports programs of excellence in education, promising research and public awareness in audiology and hearing science.
