Siemens Hearing Instruments Renews Quota Partnership to Give the Gift of Hearing to Children and Young Adults in Need

Piscataway, NJ, December 1, 2009 – Siemens Hearing Instruments, Inc., (www.usa.siemens.com/hearing) a leading global manufacturer of hearing instruments, announced its third annual partnership with Quota International’s Sound Beginnings program. The alliance will be effective through September 2010.

As part of the renewed partnership, Siemens is expanding the program to provide vouchers for 100 free hearing instruments to both children and young adults, age 23 years and under, who have been diagnosed with hearing loss. The vouchers this year will allow for the donation of Siemens Motion®, Siemens Explorer® and Siemens Cielo® 2 hearing instruments.

“Along with the significant need among children in disadvantaged families, we have also recognized this year that young adults just starting out need assistance,” said Dr. Thomas A. Powers, Vice President of Compliance and Audiology at Siemens Hearing Instruments, Inc. “We are excited to continue our partnership with Quota and to expand the Sound Beginnings program to help children and young adults living with hearing loss.”

Recognizing the need to address individual hearing loss requirements, Siemens has developed the Decibels of Life initiative to educate consumers about hearing loss and about available solutions. Siemens has developed its portfolio of hearing instruments, taking into consideration user motivations and preferences, and designing a broad range of products that are technologically advanced and completely adapted to the user’s lifestyle.

“Hearing loss is different for each individual,” Powers said. “By donating a selection of product lines, Siemens ensures that the participants in the program can receive a solution that fits their needs.”

CIELO 2 offers a variety of styles for different degrees of hearing loss. Explorer 500P, one of the products in the Siemens pediatric line, provides specialized fitting for children and has the capability, via Siemens optional Tek® Bluetooth wireless enhancement system, to stream audio from cell phones, MP3 players, TVs and video game devices to both hearing instruments. Motion 100 MX is a full featured entr level instrument with easy to use memory and volume controls.
