Digital Hearing Aids and Cell Phones

Digital hearing aids are designed to be well shielded from the magnetic energy coming from a cell phone which can generate static. However, different types, models and brands of cell phone emit different amounts of energy that can create the static you are hearing. There may be some programming changes that your hearing instrument dispenser can do to decrease the static you are hearing, or they may suggest the use of equipment designed to be used to interface between the hearing aid and the cell phone called a HATTIS device. You may also want to try a different model or brand of cell phone to decrease the amount of static you are receiving.
