Hearing aids use Zinc Air batteries. The Zinc Air battery itself should not be negatively affected when flying in an airplane. However, it is possible that the ambient noise present in an airplane could be higher than ambient noise encountered in other environments. Takeoff noise can be high even inside the cabin and other items such as the cabin air conditioning systems may contribute to the ambient noise level. This could cause the hearing aid to place more drain on the battery than in typical use, hence a shorter life when flying.
