When Should the Battery Tab be Removed?

It is recommended that you do not remove the tab until you are ready to put the battery in your hearing aid. If you have taken the tab off, then putting the battery in the hearing aid anytime over the next week or two should not have an appreciable affect of the capacity of the battery or the number of days it operates the hearing aid. If many weeks go by from the time you have removed the tab and put the battery in use, then there might be a noticeable loss in service or power from the battery. If the tab is off the battery for more than a couple months, then it might not work at all.

Although you can't manually place the tab back on the battery as effectively as the machines that do it in the factory, replacing the tab by hand is better than leaving the battery open to the environment for an extended period if you are not planning to use the battery for that time. If you are thinking of replacing the tab at the end of each day when you stop using the hearing aid, then there would be no benefit to doing that.
