The Center for Hearing, Speech and Language provides assistance for deaf and hearing-impaired individuals in the Denver and Colorado Springs area, regardless of age or socio-economic background. The center is unique in that it offers a wide range of services and programs to hearing impaired and hearing loss individuals.
The Center for Hearing, Speech and Language staffs audiologists, therapists and speech pathologists that help individuals on a sliding scale based on need, family size and income level. Deaf and hard of hearing persons receive evaluations, hearing device fittings and repairs, and ear molds for hearing aids. The Denver location offers lip and speech reading classes. Speech, language and learning disabilities come to the surface in daycare facilities and early childhood education centers, thanks to screenings provided by The Center for Hearing, Speech and Language.
Needy persons and their families access many hearing, speech, language and vision services through the Center, and can receive financial assistance for obtaining hearing aids. The Center for Hearing, Speech and Language operates screening services in preschools and elementary schools; during the crucial years when childhood development is rapid and dependant upon being able to effectively communicate with teachers and peers. Half of those receiving screenings at schools and at the on-site facility are assisted financially.
The Center for Hearing, Speech and Language runs the Hearing Aid Bank, a program that raises funds to help low-income and elderly clients pay for hearing aids and assisted listening devices. Manufacturing businesses utilize The Center for Hearing, Speech and Language’s Sound Solutions On-site Testing Center, to comply with OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Association) requirements for sound protection in the workplace.
