HealthyHearing.com is thankful for the holiday season. Because the holiday season is the time of year to give thanks and remember those in need, every Thursday for the next two months we will dedicate an article to feature different charities which provide assistance for those suffering from hearing loss or deafness.
In our last article we highlighted the work being done by Global Foundation for Children with Hearing Loss, which offers education, hearing devices and training to youth around the world.
Alison's Hope for Hearing
Although Alison’s Hope for Hearing was only founded three years ago, this completely volunteer-run charity has accomplished big things.
Based out of Minnesota, the non-profit was founded by Jillian Wieser in memory of Alison Berry, a hearing device salesperson who was killed in a car crash. Wieser wanted to find a way to honor how passionate Berry was about getting people the care they needed, and Alison’s Hope for Hearing has done just that.
The main goal behind Alison’s Hope for Hearing is to find individuals with hearing loss or deafness the healthcare and instruments they need, in addition to supporting other programs working to accomplish this task. Alison’s Hope for Hearing helps provide financial assistance for hearing aids, hearing systems, services needed to devices and follow-up care to hearing-impaired people who do not have other resources available.
The organization recognizes that hearing devices can cost anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars and while many individuals can’t afford them, they also can’t afford to not have them when it comes to employment and quality of life. With the help of private and corporate donations, Alison’s Hope for Hearing accepts applications from individuals (or family members of individuals) seeking assistance in finding hearing healthcare.
In addition to helping people in the United States find the treatment they need, Alison’s Hope for Hearing also has donated hearing equipment and supplies to mission projects in underdeveloped nations.
Do you want to help give someone the gift of hearing this holiday season? Alison’s Hope for Hearing accepts numerous donation methods, including: a holiday donation, purchasing something through Amazon’s fundraiser donation page, buying a cookbook or t-shirt designed and distributed by the organization or by simply donating a hearing aid.
With only one in seven individuals needing a hearing aid using one, Alison’s Hope for Hearing wants to change that and now you can help too.
