Joanne Slater, M.S.

Joanne Slater, M.S., CCC-A, currently serves as Continuing Education Administrator and Associate Editor of www.AudiologyOnline.com, the world's leading resource for online continuing education in hearing healthcare, as well as Associate Editor of www.HealthyHearing.com. Joanne has been an audiologist for 20 years, practicing in diverse clinical settings. Most notably, she worked for over 12 years at a busy ENT practice in a university hospital setting, where she headed the balance testing lab, conducted other diagnostic tests of the auditory system, dispensed hearing aids, and offered tinnitus counseling and management. Other work settings include private practice, and a not-for-profit organization, where Joanne evaluated individuals participating in hearing conservation programs. Joanne was a founding member and former Executive Board member of the Missouri Academy of Audiology. She is now pursuing her doctoral degree (Au.D.) from the Arizona School of Health Sciences. Joanne is dedicated to the advancement of her profession through the education of her colleagues. She has served as an adjunct professor for her graduate alma mater, teaching a course on balance function assessment at Washington University's Central Institute for the Deaf. She has also supervised graduate students embarking on the clinical phase of their career. In her role as Continuing Education Administrator for Audiology Online, Joanne is now able to focus her passion for quality education on the continuing education needs of practicing professionals. She collaborates in the process that brings together her colleagues across the nation with nationally and internationally recognized experts via a virtual learning environment.
